A key ally of atheists is much weaker and goes AWOL. Google news and other data reveal another train wreck for the atheist movement

The 2017 Edelman Trust Barometer, published in January this year, reveals a “crisis in trust” around the world in four key institutions – business, NGO’s, media and government – with media and government distrusted by more people than trusted (see: Lack of trust in media: 'magazine media could offer a blue print out' ).

 Distrust of the media is at all time high, but the media still does have some influence (see: Americans' Trust in Mass Media Sinks to New Low ).

The Media Research Center released a study in 2008 reporting pro-atheism bias by major press outlets in the United States. The study found that 80% of mainstream media coverage of atheism was positive and that 71% of Christian-themed stories had an atheist counterpoint or were written from an atheist perspective.

The Daily Mail reported about Britain's influential broadcaster the BBC:

The BBC employs more atheists and non-believers than Christians, an internal ‘diversity’ survey has found. The new research has been seized on by critics who accuse the Corporation of bias against Christianity and marginalising the faith in its output. The survey found that just 22.5 per cent of all staff professed to be Christians

The media was a key ally to the New Atheism movement and helped sell a lot of books by the new atheists. 

But take a look at the last 20 news stories about atheism in Google news: Google news - atheism news stories

There are a lot fewer atheism news stories than the period between 2004 - 2012 (the peak of the New Atheism movement was in 2011).  And the news stories that do appear are more negative than they used to be.

Generally, Google news about atheism has stories about:

1.  How much people dislike atheists and closet atheism (see: Study: Atheists distrusted as much as rapists and Atheists Widely Distrusted, Even Among Themselves, UK Study Finds ). A recent study found that distrusts of atheists grew in the United States in the last 10 years.  Many of these stories try to build sympathy for atheists. Many also encourage closet atheists to come out of the closet. This is obviously a hard sell given the antipathy/distrusts being directed towards atheists often being reported in the stories.

2. People and organizations criticizing atheism

3.  Islamic governments imposing harsh sentences/penalties on atheists

4.  Islamic fundamentalists killing or trying to kill atheists. Atheism having a social stigma in Islamic countries.

5.  Some atheists trying to paint a positive spin on atheism while often admitting that atheism has a stigma.

6.  Stories about the "nones" (In the USA fewer than 15% of the "nones" consider themselves atheists)

7.  The erosion of secularism in various governments

8.  Some stories about global atheism shrinking due to the low birth rates of the atheist population.

For the most part Google news does not paint a rosy picture of atheism.

Coverage of atheism is increasingly being squeezed out 

On top of this, you have news often dominated by news about Donald Trump, Brexit, Frexist, right-wing European politics and gaining traction and the school choice movement gaining traction in America. This is definitely not good news for atheists. Why? One obvious reason is this means less coverage of atheism.

In addition, atheist Dr. Gordon Stein wrote:

Atheism has long ceased to be a rare and oft-ignored philosophical outlook...It has transformed itself into an active political programme with clear objectives which, though they vary from state to state, unequivocally include the elimination of state religion, religious education, and the enshrinement of scientism.

Historically, atheists have screwed towards the left side of the political aisle (see: Atheists & Agnostics in America Tend to be Politically Liberal ). 

For example, according to the University of Cambridge, historically, the "most notable spread of atheism was achieved through the success of the 1917 Russian Revolution, which brought the Marxist-Leninists to power."

Future of press coverage of atheism/atheists

Newspapers and other news organizations are facing dwindling profits and trust. In addition, scholars of religious/irreligious demographics such as Eric Kaufmann are predicting the 21st century will be a time of deseculiarization and a growth of religious fundamentalism in both developed/developing countries.  The future does not look bright for news coverage of atheism.

2017 is going to be a very BAD year for militant atheists.

The Secular Web website is a website run by the organization Internet Infidels and its stated aim is to promote metaphysical naturalism which is a philosophy which claims only the natural world exists and that supernatural entities/forces do not exist. As you can see above, Internet Internet Infidels is struggling in its efforts to promote atheism/naturalism on the world wide web in 2017.

Given the information in the resources directly above, the Center for the Study of Global Christianity at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, expects the global atheist population to shrink in its total number of individuals in 2017.

If CSGC is correct, then not only is the global market share for atheism going downward, but now the actual number of atheists in the world is going down as well. Specifically, CSGC is projecting that from the midpoint of 2016 to the midpoint of 2017, the total number of atheists in the world is going to go from 138,101,000 individuals to 137,041,000 individuals. That is a net loss of 60,000 atheists in the world during this period

Zhejiang province, which is China's Christian Heartland,  has the highest IQ in China. In 2005, the average IQ is Zhejiang province was 115.8.  And that is significantly higher than the mean average of China which was 103.4.

Evolutionists, atheists and agnostics: Where is your master plan to reverse your decline?

Evolutionists, atheists and agnostics: Where is your master plan to reverse your global decline?

I certainly documented your decline and how it will affect Western countries. You have given no credible disputation of this matter. We also documented the growth of creationism within Western countries. So, what are you going to do about it? 

So many times I have heard about the supposed intellectual superiority of your communities, yet when the water gets rough, you don't seem to have back up plans.

Furthermore, you seem incapable of coming up with an effective plan to reverse things. Given that you always prattle on about supposed advanced cultures on other planets, I would have thought if you were serious that you not only would have a global plan for the evolutionist community, but a plan for the entire universe as well! You seem to have neither! Needless to say, I am not surprised that you cannot satisfactorily answer the 15 questions for evolutionists.

You are all in denial or have come to the realization that it is impossible to oppose God and win. I am not impressed with your intellectual prowess - quite the opposite really. God has immensely more power and wisdom than all the members of your communities combined and we both know it. 

5 important issues relating to atheism, agnosticism and evolutionism

In recent posts, I covered these 5 important areas:

1. The most ardent defenders of evolutionism have historically been atheists and their ideological cousins agnostics. The most effective way to combat atheism/agnosticism is to attack evolutionism as it cuts off their ideological supply lines. 

2. Decline of global atheism and agnosticism in terms of adherents and its expected significant impact on Western atheism and evolutionism. As Professor Eric Kaufmann declared to a secular audience: "The trends that are happening worldwide inevitably in an age of globalization are going to affect us."

3. Lack of leadership capabilities within world atheism/agnosticism

4. Global Christianity and creationism is growing and increasing challenging Darwinism and Darwinist theology in places such as North America, Europe, Asia, Latin America and Africa. 

5. Christians and Christian creationist are increasingly using the internet in terms of evangelism and have ambitious plans for the future. They are obtaining excellent results. There are Christians in the Western World who have a global plan to spread Christianity. Atheism has expended significant effort in the past via the internet with little to show for it. In addition, the atheist internet community has been in a 4 year slump in terms of web traffic. Furthermore, there is a lack of strong leadership within the atheist community.

Atheists and evolutionists: What is your global master plan to reverse things? 

Atheists and agnostics tend to tilt towards the left politically (Historically, they have embraced communism, socialism and liberalism). In addition, leftists tend to be globalist and less nationalistic. In addition, they tend to work with each other across the globe. 

So evolutionists, atheists and agnostics, where is your plan to reverse things? Where are the plans of notable atheists, agnostics and evolutionists or notable organizations representing these communities? 

The Birkbeck College, University of London professor Eric Kaufmann using a multitude of demographic studies argues in an academic paper entitled Shall the Righteous Inherit the Earth? Demography and Politics in the Twenty-First Century the decline of atheism in terms of its global adherents is an established trend that will persist for the foreseeable future and the rate of decline will accelerate and affect the Western World. By in large, these outspoken evolutionists are awfully silent about the aforementioned decline: Richard Dawkins, PZ Myers, Sam Harris, Daniel Dennette, Penn Jillette, Eugenie Scott, Dan Barker, atheists and agnostics in academia, evolutionists in academia, British Humanist Society, National Academies of Sciences, National Center for Science Education, evolution promoting natural science journals, evolution promoting social science journals, evolution leaning journalists, American Atheists, YouTube atheists Thunderf00t and TheAmazingAtheist, Matt Dillahunty, the Skepchick community, prominent French evolutionists and atheists/agnostics, prominent secularist Europeans in other countries, Chinese communists and others. Why are all these outspoken people suddenly so silent? 

And the cursory treatment of this issue by atheists PZ Myers and Nigel Barber were absolutely a joke. Barber confidently proclaimed that atheism would prevail against religion by 2038 without providing detailed analysis. It's almost as if he picked the year 2038 out of a hat! I mean why not 2040? Even the immensely weird and bellicose North Korean atheists and communists are silent about this matter. Recently, I saw a documentary on North Korea and the narrator for that documentary said that North Korea was the weirdest place on earth. I said to myself, the most friendly land towards atheism and evolutionism and the most unfriendly land towards biblical Christianity is also the weirdest. Go figure!

North Korea is a surreal country abounding in phoniness and propaganda. Sounds a lot like the ideologies of atheism and evolutionism, doesn't it? Given the bizarre behavior of many atheists/agnostics and evolutionists that I have seen, I cannot say that I am surprised. 

The silence the militant evolutionists is absolutely deafening. Cat got your tongue evolutionists? Of course, even if you were to come up with a plan in spite of all the evidence that it would not work, we all know it would fail miserably, don't we? 

Evolutionists, why are you going to be so late in talking about these growing problems as a whole? Is it due to: pride, thoughtlessness, denialism, complacency, ignorance and a growing realization that you cannot win?

Of course, deep down dogmatic evolutionists know that evolutionism is pseudoscience so a a sacrificial and heroic effort is not in the cards, is it? Sullenly taking your lumps is about the best you can do at this point.
